Temple Terrace will hold a special Town Hall meeting Monday,
Dec. 17, 2012 to consider a proposed IB Program at Riverhills Elementary
The meeting will be at 6 p.m. at the Omar K. Lightfoot Recreation Center, 10901
N. 56th St.
Temple Terrace City Council members will hear a presentation from Hillsborough
County School Board members and representatives explaining the program. An
International Baccalaureate curriculum is designed to challenge students with a
more rigorous, project-based approach to education that encourages
problem-solving and independent thinking.
City leaders, however, want to know what impact or repercussions the program could have on other Temple Terrace schools.
The School Board’s presentation will be followed by a Q&A session. Parents
and others interested in Temple Terrace area schools are urged to come out and
learn about this proposal, ask questions and express their views. Maps and
other documents about the program will be available.
“This is an important issue,” said Mayor Frank Chillura. “We need to make sure
Temple Terrace schools reflect our neighborhoods.”
