A woman who was watching the annual Temple Terrace fireworks display on the first fairway of the Temple Terrace Golf & Country Club was hit in the leg with “something” at the celebration, police said.

According to Temple Terrace Deputy Chief Bernard Seeley, the incident is under investigation and police won’t know what struck the woman until they receive a report from the hospital where she was taken.

Temple Terrace Police and fireworks spectators crowded around the woman Wednesday night. There appeared to be blood on her leg and in a folding chair next to her. Police officers brushed their hands on the chair and the ground, presumably to determine what might have struck her. A stretcher was wheeled over as Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) members asked the crowd to disperse.

“We did have a lady injured on the first fairway of the golf course after the fireworks,” Seeley said. “We’re still investigating at this time.”
