Should There be More Events in the Downtown Redevelopment Area?
Tell us what events you’d like to see downtown.
National Plug-In Day was the first event to take place in the Temple Terrace downtown redevelopment area since the gazebo and 1-acre park were dedicated last year.
While city officials and developer Vlass Temple Terrace continue to discuss the residential aspect of the redevelopment project, would you like to see the downtown area play host to more community events? Let us know by participating in the poll below.
What kinds of events would you like to see downtown? Tell us in the comments section.

An Outdoor Market could also be in the works, Greg Barnhill is a new Temple Terrace resident and is also a founder of Tampa Bay Markets:

I'd love to see a Farmer's Market during the cooler months.

We could have a bum round up. get all the bums sleeping there and let em race. OR a fountain dash as they use the fountain for a bath and a urinal we could maybe arrange something there. BUT whatever we decide let's make first prize that ridiculous statue and give it away.

Battle of the bands/street dance for the teenagers. The city needs to provide more opportunities for the teens.
Love the Saturday Market and food truck ideas, but heard that nothing could be sold that SweetBay carries as it would be a violation of a clause in their contract with the city. Candidates, please weigh in on the veracity of this.

I believe Greg Barnhill was involved with the Seminole Heights Market that is held one Sunday a month on the campus of Hillsborough High. It is a wonderful community event. Perfect for Temple Terrace. A street dance or battle of the bands or food trucks would be multi-generational events that would benefit our community unity !

I see people have already recommended a farmer's market. That would be wonderful. Also an art fair. An outdoor music series would be nice, too (not a rock concert, though.) Maybe the 4th of July parade could start there. Or visit Santa Claus in December.
