Police Officer: ‘Lock Your Vehicles’
Thieves stole personal items from cars and an apartment this week, according to Temple Terrace Police Community Service Officer Ken Stanton.
As Temple Terrace’s new community service officer, Ken Stanton encouraged motorists to lock their vehicles in this week’s Crime Update.
Two out of the three crimes he chose to highlight from the Temple Terrace Police Department were auto burglaries.
“As you can see by the … selected crimes, it is imperative that you lock your vehicles,” Stanton wrote in the update. “Place all valuables out of sight (in the trunk, glove box or center console). This helps you and us by keeping the police officers taking the reports available and on patrol to catch these culprits. Let’s keep them out of Temple Terrace, preferably in Hillsborough County Jail.”
Stanton emails Crime Updates to residents who have indicated that they want to receive the weekly reports. The crimes he featured this week were:
Gardens of Temple Terrace
Someone broke the back sliding glass door and entered an apartment and took personal items, Stanton said.
Between Druid Hills Road and Whiteway Drive
Someone entered an unlocked vehicle and took personal items, Stanton said.
North of Fowler Avenue
Someone entered an unlocked vehicle and took a weapon and personal items, Stanton said.
In the update, Stanton also told residents that he will be in the Meadowood area Saturday to meet neighbors during a community garage sale. He invited residents to chat with him and said he’s looking forward to meeting everyone.
“If you are planning a neighborhood watch meeting, please pass on the date and time so I can make it a priority to attend,” he added. “I am attending two so far in November: Theresa Arbor on Nov. 12 at 7 p.m.; and Raintree Oaks on Nov. 13 at 7:30 p.m.
“If your neighborhood watch has gone to the wayside, let’s get it back and active. If you are a watch coordinator, want to be a watch coordinator or know of your coordinator please email your contact information so I can update my records.”
