Police: Man Robs Bank, Goes to the Mall

The man was found inside Westshore Mall following the afternoon robbery.

 

A Temple Terrace area man is behind bars today following an armed bank robbery in the Westshore area.

According to the Tampa Police Department, the incident took place around 4:30 p.m. Nov. 9. A man handed a teller at the 100 N. Westshore Blvd. Bank of America branch a note demanding money and a bag to fill with cash. The teller noticed a gun in the man’s briefcase and complied with the request.

Once the bag was filled, the man fled the bank on foot. A bank employee saw him enter Westshore Mall.

Police responded and set up a perimeter around the area. The man was found inside the mall a short while later and was arrested, according to a police department media release.

Thomas “Tommy” Raymond Cunneen III, 49, of 7510 Needleleaf Place, Apt. D, now faces armed bank robbery charges. He was being held in the Hillsborough County Jail today on no bond, according to jail records.
