Police: Be on Lookout for Money With Red Dye
Businesses are asked to keep an eye out for bills stained with red dye after a nearby bank robbery.
The Tampa Police Department is asking business owners to pay attention to the bills they receive.
According to a TPD media release, a man robbed Pilot Bank in New Tampa at gunpoint on Jan. 24 at about 3 p.m.
The teller gave him money and a dye pack, according to TPD, and detectives think the money will be stained red from the dye.
"Business owners, be on the lookout for any money used for purchases that has any red dye coloring on it," the release states.
The suspect is described as a black male in his late teens to early 20s, between 5 feet, 3 inches and 5 feet, 4 inches tall. He was last seen wearing a black ski mask with mesh on the bottom around the mouth and a "soft, sock-type top," long black pants (not jeans) and a long-sleeved black shirt with a hood.
