Moffitt Appoints Physicians to Leadership Team

Changes will take effect in July.

From Moffitt Cancer Center:

 has announced that G. Douglas Letson, M.D., has been appointed the new executive vice president for Clinical Affairs and physician-in-chief, and Johnathan Lancaster, M.D., Ph.D., has been appointed the new president of the Moffitt Medical Group, which oversees the medical practice of physicians and health care professionals. 

In February, Moffitt announced that President and Chief Executive Officer William S. Dalton, Ph.D., M.D., will become the new CEO of M2Gen and lead the new Personalized Medicine Institute. M2Gen is a wholly owned, for-profit subsidiary of Moffitt, and the institute will focus on personalizing cancer care.

Alan List, M.D., executive vice president and physician-in-chief, will become CEO of Moffitt. Thomas A. Sellers, Ph.D., will become center director. All appointments will take effect in July.

Letson, an orthopedic surgeon and musculoskeletal tumor specialist, is program leader of Sarcoma. He has developed the largest program of its kind in Florida and the Southeast dedicated to research and treatment of patients with these rare malignancies. In his new role, Letson will oversee clinical sciences.

Lancaster, a gynecologic oncologist and clinician scientist, is the deputy physician-in-chief and chair of the Department of Women’s Oncology. He leads a multidisciplinary team of physicians focused on finding a cure for women’s cancer. He also oversees a translational research laboratory pioneering new approaches to the diagnosis and treatment of ovarian and other gynecological malignancies. In his new role, Lancaster will oversee physician practice operations.
