Junior Woman's Club Makes Cards With Cancer Patients

The Temple Terrace club went to Hope Lodge to bring smiles to those receiving treatment.

In an effort to lift the spirits of those receiving cancer treatment, the GFWC Temple Terrace Junior Woman’s Club visited Tampa Hope Lodge where they got a little crafty.

Club members helped residents of Hope Lodge, an American Cancer Society facility that serves as a temporary home for cancer patients of , create hand-made greeting cards.

The Junior Woman’s Club presents this card-making class for Hope Lodge residents several times each year, explained club member Anita Long.

“The card-making project brings a smile to the faces of residents and club members alike, as they create their own handmade cards,” Long said.

The group also enjoyed a pizza party, she said.

The GFWC Temple Terrace Junior Woman’s Club consists of women 18 and older who want to make a difference in the community and the world.

Some of the club’s active projects include:

  • The American Cancer Society’s Relay for Life Temple Terrace
  • Adopt-A-Highway Clean-up
  • Terrace Reads
  • Teacher Appreciation Week The Heritage Ornament Project

The club meets at Woodmont Clubhouse, 415 Woodmont Ave., at 7 p.m. on the third Thursday of the month from August to May.
