Update: Howard Frankland, Courtney Campbell Open

All lanes of the Howard Frankland Bridge and Courtney Campbell Causeway were reopened overnight as conditions from Tropical Storm Debby subsided.

Updated, 12:41 a.m.:

All lanes of the Courtney Campbell Causeway between Clearwater and Tampa are now open, Clearwater Police reported early Tuesday.

Earlier:

All lanes of the Howard Frankland Bridge are reopened, the Florida Highway Patrol announced at 11 p.m. Monday as weather conditions from Tropical Storm Debby have subsided.

The eastbound lanes of the Courtney Campbell Causeway, however, remain closed due to high surf, FHP spokesperson Sgt. Steve Gaskins said, citing the Clearwater Police Department.

Also from FHP:

  • The Sunshine Skyway Bridge remains closed at this hour due to high winds
  • The Gandy Bridge remains open
  • State Road 589 remains closed in both directions from State Road 50 to U.S. Hwy. 98 due to heavy flooding.

Troopers will continue to monitor area roadways for motorists’ safety and will open or close them based on weather conditions, Gaskins said.

Follow FHP’s live online traffic crash and roadway conditions website for current roadway closures.
