Cooking Dispute Ends in Arrest
University of South Florida Police say an argument about cooking erupted between roommates. It ended with one brandishing a knife at the other.
A University of South Florida student remains behind bars today after police say he attacked his roommate during a dispute about cooking.
According to a USF Police Department media release, the incident took place around 1:30 p.m. Oct. 15 in the Holly “E” Residence Hall.
Police say Xia Li, 29, entered his roommate’s room and struck him. He then left the room, but returned a short while later with a kitchen knife. Li is accused of holding the knife to ChengCheng Mou’s neck, causing an abrasion.
The dispute, police say, erupted over cooking.
Mou, 23, suffered minor injuries and refused medical transport.
Li was charged with aggravated battery involving a weapon, armed burglary, burglary and simple battery. He was being held in the Hillsborough County jail today without bond.
