Ms. Tahvia Shaw is the New Principal at Terrace Community Middle School
Terrace Community Middle
School is very excited to introduce Ms.
Tahvia Shaw as its new Principal.
Ms. Shaw has been a longtime educator at TCMS for the past 12 years and has served as Assistant Principal,
Grade Level Administrator for the 8th grade, Classroom Teacher in 5th through 8th grades teaching math and science and Team Leader for 7th and 8th grade. Ms. Shaw
received her M.Ed in Educational Leadership from National-Louis University and her BS in Biology Education from Kentucky State University.
During her tenure at TCMS, Ms. Shaw coached 5th and 6th grade basketball, volleyball and sponsored the 7th grade math league team that had a winning record throughout Hillsborough County. She was selected by her peers as the
2009 Teacher of the Year and was recognized by the School District of Hillsborough along with other selected Teachers of the Year recipients.
Ms. Shaw’s career is characterized by her strong beliefs in choice education. Educational options can only increase parental awareness and serve as a connectedness that schools need to succeed. She recognizes that parental and community involvement is critical to the success of students and the school as a whole.
Additionally, she believes if students are provided with a nurturing and supportive environment, exposure to new ideas, and have high expectations that all students can experience success. Confidence and self-esteem are built through building strong relationships with students. Ms. Shaw’s philosophy supports assisting all students in accomplishing goals and overcoming challenges so they can reach their full potential.
