Lewis Students Awarded with Kickin' It With Good Behavior

This year, Lewis Elementary has implemented a new program called, PBS, Positive Behavior Support, in which students obtain PAWS tickets for good behavior from teachers, administrators, and staff members.  Students are able to spend their tickets on school-wide prizes or save them for a big event.  We had our first school wide incentive at the end of the first grading period, called Grill and Chill, in which 350 students attended.  They were served hot dogs and snow cones, while dancing with their teachers and administrators.

Today, we had our second event, Kickin’ It With Good Behavior.   Students needed 40 tickets for this event and 331 students participated. Mrs. Garris, a first grade teacher and fitness instructor, as well as Ms. Meyerson, a 5th grade teacher, led the children in a 15-minute kickboxing demonstration to music.  The children had a lot of fun, as well as the teachers and volunteers.  It was a great way to reward the children and incorporate healthy habits.

Our assistant principal, Mrs. Rabeiro is very excited about this program and states, “Our students are taking pride in making good behavior choices!”  Great job students!  We can’t wait to hear what is coming up next!  Keep earning those tickets!
